Ballroom Dancing popular on Long Island? Why Do I need to learn Ballroom Dancing?
Recently, ballroom dancing on Long Island has become a very fashionable
activity among adult people. The skill of ballroom dancing turned out to be a very useful one. At the Ballroom Factory we
teach young couples who are about to be married learning their first wedding dance, couples married 10, 20, 30 years who found
ballroom dancing a fun activity to do together as well as singles who desire to improve their ballroom dancing and gain confidence
on the dance floors of many Long Island social dance events.
There are many reasons
to take ballroom dance lessons; however, when a special occasion comes up, it’s a must. The skill of ballroom dancing
adds a bit of sparkle to any affair – weddings, parties, business events, etc. Fortunately, to be able to present yourself
on the dance floor gracefully, you don’t need to become a professional dancer. Taking a few private ballroom lessons
will improve your dance skills significantly. There is no doubt that equipped with a specific knowledge you will feel more
confident dancing with a partner.
Lessons or Group Classes? What to begin with?
The Ballroom Factory on Long Island offers many forms of learning
ballroom dancing. The best way to learn is by taking private dance lessons. The reason is evident. One-on-one lesson with
the dance instructor is the only way to learn at your own pace. Whatever your goal is, the structure of the ballroom dance
lesson is adjusted to your needs. At the beginning, some students prefer to concentrate on one dance and master it for a while,
meanwhile others like a variety of Ballroom and Latin dances.
dance lessons, we suggest you to take group classes as well. They are never as effective as private sessions with the dance
instructor; nevertheless, they help to retain the steps and technique you’ve learned before. The main purpose of taking
the group classes is to practice steps, to socialize, and to learn to lead or follow different partners. To give the students
a better chance to practice, there are social dance parties organized at least twice a month with a complimentary group class
before every party that gives students an opportunity to learn new patterns and get to know each other.
to Wear to a Ballroom Dance Class?
There is no
specific attire required for men and women in a social dance class. Casual clothing, comfortable top and bottom are recommended.
Students who dance for a while might consider ballroom practice wear (long skirt for ballroom classes and short, slightly
above the knee made of Lycra skirt for Latin classes).
Proper shoes are
more important than clothing. Beginners who do not have ballroom dance shoes should wear comfortable street shoes. Women should
wear low heeled shoes that will stay on their feet. Men should wear leather soled shoes. We highly discourage wearing sports
shoes because of their rubber bottom which does not turn easily on the dance floor.
At the studio we carry a collection of “Freed of London” and "Very
Fine" ballroom dance shoes:
